Can I customize the Causes that are shown?

• To help future benchmarking, the list of Causes being used is the same across all grantmakers.
• The Cause filter does not change the way that proposal type eligibility works today.

How does manual NTEE code work with Causes? Can admins change the cause assigned to an organization?

• We want to enable easier benchmarking across clients so that you can see your contribution to Cause compared to other CyberGrants clients in the future
• This means that updates to the Cause fields are made from tax sources across all grantmakers within CyberGrants or from the organization themselves
• Because manual NTEE code is assigned only to an individual grantmaker's instance of the org, assigning manual NTEE codes won't update or re-assign Cause

If the org hasn't assigned themselves a Cause, does that mean they won't show up in results?

• If a donor doesn't filter by Cause or searches by an organization name, the organization will still show up based on the same eligibility rules in place today.
• However, if a donor filters by Cause, they will only see events or organizations that have those Causes applied.

Does Causes cost anything to use?

• The Cause feature is included within the Employee Engagement module at no additional cost.

Can I opt out of Causes?

• Clients are not able to opt out of the cause feature. Here's why we're excited about this feature and think you should be too:
• Causes uses data already available within CyberGrants to create a way for donors to discover new organizations and events that support the causes they're passionate about and encourage new ways to engage.
• This feature does not change the existing eligibility or configuration for client proposal types, which means that donors will not see any events or organizations that they would not have seen before when searching.

How are Causes different from skills and interests?

• Skills are intended to represent the experience or expertise that donors have and that a particular event needs
• Interests are customizable, which means that using Interests would not enable you to benchmark against other grantmakers in the future 
• Causes reflect the top level goals of the organization and the donor
  • In the future, we'll align Cause and Interests together to seamlessly connect organizations, events, and donors
