Bonterra CyberGrants Dollars for Doers program provides a way for volunteer time to be converted into financial support for nonprofit organizations. Companies can reward employee contributions by matching eligible volunteer hours with monetary grants. The program names displayed in the portal, the organizations eligible to receive grants, the conversion rate of hours to dollars, and the confirmation process may vary depending on each customer’s configuration.

The following steps describe how to log hours and submit Dollars for Doers volunteer grants as a program end-user.

Step 1. Navigate to the Volunteer page

Enter the Volunteer page through the top navigation bar. On the Volunteer page, you will find a section labeled Dollars for Doers or Volunteer Grant. The label may vary depending on the program configuration, but both refer to the same feature.

You may first need to enter your time if volunteer hours have not yet been logged. To submit your volunteer time, select the link to Log Your Hours and proceed through the application. Learn more about logging your volunteer time by visiting How do I log volunteer hours?

Step 2. Request a grant

Once sufficient volunteer hours are logged, the Redeem button becomes available. You can review the organizations where you have logged time and see the total grant dollars available to request.

Selecting Redeem begins the application process. At this point, depending on the program's configuration, the user can either:

  • Select the organization they volunteered with
  • Choose another organization where hours have been logged, or
  • Request a grant for a different eligible organization allowed under the program’s requirements.

Step 3. Complete the grant form

The grant request form automatically displays the volunteer start and end dates, pulled from the logged hours. The Hours Volunteered field shows the total number of hours available to redeem.

Enter the number of hours to apply in the Hours to Match field. The system then calculates the monetary value based on the configured conversion rate (for example, $10 per hour). Conversion rules depend on the company’s setup.

Selecting Save and Proceed advances the request, and selecting Submit finalizes the application.

Step 4. Confirm hours (if required)

Some programs require confirmation from the nonprofit organization before the grant is issued. In this case, select Email Confirmation to access instructions for the organization to verify the volunteer hours.

The confirmation process is configurable and may differ depending on the program’s requirements.

Step 5. Track grant activity

Return to the Volunteer page to review used and available hours in the Dollars for Doers section. This area shows:

  • The number of hours redeemed
  • The monetary value of those hours
  • The remaining hours available for future requests

Additional volunteer hours can be logged to continue earning grant dollars for eligible organizations.
