Using approval rules to automatically approve matches once the organization confirms the original gift eliminates the need for a manual review step. When a nonprofit organization representative confirms a gift through an organization’s portal or FrontDoor, the request is automatically marked as “Approved” in the system.
Note: If a confirmed gift is discrepant (e.g., The confirmed hour or dollar amount is different than a gift amount on the original request), then the request is not automatically approved and requires a manual review.
Who Can Use It?
The automatic approvals feature is available to all clients. However, only administrative users can configure this feature. By default, the feature is disabled and does not reject any requests until enabled by a system Admin.
Note: Customizations to your confirmation workflow may affect your ability to use automatic approvals. Please contact your Client Manager with any questions you may have, concerning your eligibility.
Impact on Existing Approval Rules
Existing approval rules remain unaffected, and no changes are required. Only rules configured to support automatic approvals are moved to the "Approved" status by the system when an organization user confirms a gift through an organization portal or FrontDoor.
Note: Approval rules used to initially set a gift to an "External" status must still be configured, as they are separate from the new rule that enables automatic approval after confirmation.
Automatic approval workflow
Once automatic approvals have been enabled for confirmed gift matches and a confirmation date is set on the request, the system searches for any active rules using the automatic approval setting. If applicable approval rules are found, they will be applied based on the configured criteria and the system will mark the request as approved. This feature does not interfere with any customization that performs this action. However, if you would like to take advantage of this feature, your customization must be disabled.
