Maintaining a secure and reliable software environment is crucial for protecting the data and users of the CyberGrants application. To achieve this, a curated list of recognized image and document file extensions is implemented as a global allow list, restricting the types of files that can be uploaded to CyberGrants application fields. This proactive measure helps to safeguard the system from potential security threats posed by certain file types that may exploit vulnerabilities.
Proceed as follows to better understand the file extension global allow list.
Step 1: Understand the File Extension Global Allow List Restrictions
This feature prevents the upload of files unless the filename extension is on the global allow list. Robust validation mechanisms have been implemented to enforce the file extension restrictions during the upload process.
- NOTE: Although the system allows users to upload files with supported extensions, program administrators can continue to restrict further the types of file extensions that can be uploaded at the individual field level.
CyberGrants will regularly review and update the global allow list to ensure it remains aligned with the evolving needs and security requirements of the product application and customer needs.
Step 2: View the Supported File Extensions
The following is a list of the CyberGrants system-supported file extensions:
- .csv
- .numbers
- .xls
- .xlsx
- .doc
- .docx
- .eml
- .msg
- .eps
- .heic
- .ics
- .jpeg
- .jpg
- .png
- .tif
- .tiff
- .mp3
- .pdf
- .pptx
- .ppt
- .txt
- .zip
Existing files that were uploaded prior to January 23, 2025, do not require any changes and were not affected when this feature was implemented.
