The Foreign Language Extension enables multilingual portal experiences in CyberGrants by supporting the configuration and deployment of translated system content. It provides a structured framework for preparing, translating, validating, and publishing portal text in supported languages.
Rather than changing core system functionality, the extension focuses on translating existing portal content so users can interact with the experience in their preferred language.
Who the extension supports
When configured, the Foreign Language Extension can support multiple audiences within CyberGrants:
- Employees or donors who can view and interact with the portal in supported languages.
- Nonprofit organizations, if enabled within your configuration, are able to complete eligible workflows in translated experiences.
The exact scope of translated workflows depends on your CyberGrants configuration.
How the extension works
The Foreign Language Extension uses a controlled export-and-import process to manage translated content.
Your Implementation Consultant generates structured Excel export files for each area of the system that requires translation. These files contain:
- The English source content.
- A corresponding “Translated” column for each language.
Translations are completed externally by the customer or a translation vendor. After translation, the files are imported back into CyberGrants, where they are reviewed and validated before being published to production.
To ensure system stability, specific formatting rules protect system variables, HTML, and structural elements during translation.
When the extension is used
The Foreign Language Extension is typically addressed as part of implementation planning for customers who require multilingual access. Once deployed, translated content enables broader participation across global or multilingual audiences.
