Donor Experience:
The basic appearance and behavior of both the organization search page and application will be unchanged when this feature is used. The following will apply when the CAF America Global Charity Feeds are enabled.
Donor Portal Organization Search:
The organization selection and giving flow is the same for all organizations in all countries and can be combined into one proposal type. Donors will be able to use the standard Organization Search to locate a CAF America-verified, program-eligible organization in their country or other countries, including the U.S. and Canada, if eligible based on the proposal type configuration.
- New organizations added to the CAF America Global Charity Feeds through both tax sources will populate in the organization search and sync to the database, with a record created once the organization is selected by a donor when completing the online application.
- Donors who invited an organization can select the international organization once it becomes available in the system, following CAF America approval. The donor can return to the credit card donation flow, search for the newly available organization, and complete their donation and match request.
Donor Application Overview:
Amounts recorded in both the credit card request record and auto-generated match record are converted automatically in the system on the date of the credit card charge from USD to the donor’s local currency. Cards are charged within 24 hours from the date the donor submits their request.
- Donors must enter their gift amount in their local currency through the online application if their account is enabled with multi-currency.
- As part of the standard product, once a credit card request is registered, the donation cannot be canceled. Credit card donations are auto-approved upon entry, and the charge, occurring within 24 hours, cannot be stopped. NOTE: The system will allow for a credit card donation refund to process if the transaction has not yet been batched for payment. Once CyberGrants has disbursed the funds to CAF America for payment processing, we cannot support refunds. If the donor was charged a foreign transaction fee, which is dependent on their merchant bank, that amount will not be included in the refund.
International Nonprofit Organization (NPO) Experience:
CAF America Vetting:
International organizations will work directly with CAF America to establish their eligibility by completing the Grant Eligibility Application (GEA) to appear on the CAF America Global Charity Eligibility Feed.
Organizations invited by a donor through the International Invitations workflow must complete this same CAF America vetting process before they can be added to the CAF America database and made available in donor search results.
CAF America CGDS Payments:
Upon payment, organizations are invited to view the details associated with the funds received through their access to the secure CGDS Disbursement Portal. Payment details appear on the portal in standard CGDS format. Click here to learn more about the CGDS NPO user experience.
Considering exchange rates (both upon charge and at the date of payment), merchant fees, CGDS fees, additional fees credit card companies take when charging outside of their country, etc., the payment will be updated based on the amount that was actually disbursed. The resulting amount should be the same in USD but may be slightly different in local currency.
- The CGDS processing fee and merchant fees deducted will appear in the reports available to organizations once the payment status changes to ‘Paid – Cleared'.
- Values entered in a program designation field within the application will not populate within the payment details shared with the organization, nor within the donor’s giving history on the donor portal when paid to an organization on the CAF America Global Charity Feed, regardless of whether the proposal type is configured with this field. The designation field value is stored internally, for admins to view but not shared with end-users.
- Organizations reaching out for assistance with obtaining eligibility to be added to the CAF America Global Charity Database, revisions to their account to securely receive payments, and status updates on payments that are in process with CAF America for disbursement to an organization can reach out to info@cafamerica.org for additional support.
