Implementing the Dollars for Doers (D4D) International Extension involves careful planning, configuration, and validation to ensure smooth deployment and adoption.

The steps below outline the process of implementing the Dollars for Doers International Extension efficiently while aligning with Bonterra’s standards for functionality, quality, and user experience.

Pre-Implementation Planning

Step 1: Define Program Requirements

  • Determine whether your D4D program will share balances with other employee engagement programs or stand alone.
  • Set parameters for:
    • Minimum Hours
    • Hour Limit
    • Hour Conversion Rate

Step 2: Identify International Grant Variants

  • Define country-specific grant forms (U.S., Canada, International).
  • Clarify what fields and logic should vary by location.

Step 3: Resource Planning

  • Assign an internal stakeholder to own the program configuration and sign-off responsibilities.
  • Collaborate with Bonterra’s Project Manager for scope and delivery planning.

Step 4: Prepare Business Requirements

  • Complete and review the Business Requirements Document (BRD).
  • Ensure accuracy and alignment with business rules before signing off.

Implementation Process

Step 5: Configure Standard Portlet

  • Bonterra configures the Volunteerism portlet to include logging hours and conditional display logic.

Step 6: Build Eligibility Logic

  • Apply rules for displaying the D4D grant link:
    • Minimum Hours met
    • Program Balance available
    • Hour Limit not exceeded

Step 7: Configure Grant Applications

  • Set up domestic and international variants with pre-filled data and read-only fields.
  • Ensure proper routing based on the donor’s country value.

Step 8: User Acceptance Testing (UAT)

  • Conduct comprehensive testing of the portlet, logic, and grant forms.
  • Validate country-based routing and eligibility rules.
  • Approve or identify gaps for correction prior to production.

Post-Implementation Management

Step 9: Monitor and Manage Change Requests

  • Remember that only one scoped change is allowed per calendar year.
  • Engage Bonterra support for modification requests outside of scope (additional costs may apply).

Step 10: Communicate Program Rules Internally

  • Educate employees on eligibility criteria, logging hours, and redemption steps.
  • Provide documentation or internal FAQs as needed.

Step 11: Evaluate Program Performance

  • Regularly review participation, redemption rates, and regional grant submissions.
  • Use this data to inform future enhancements or change requests.
