The Match Function Extension is implemented using Bonterra’s standardized delivery methodology. This ensures that the logic works as intended, maintains system integrity, and allows you to benefit from future platform enhancements.
The following steps will guide you through the implementation process for this extension, from initial planning through post-implementation management.
Pre-implementation planning
Step 1: Define requirements
Confirm your match program rules, including match ratios, annual limits, fiscal year tracking, and eligibility criteria. Ensure these requirements are consistent across all applicable proposal types.
Step 2: Review proposal types
Identify all proposal types that will be linked to the match extension. These must share the same fiscal year configuration to be compatible.
Step 3: Confirm static values
If using currency conversion, determine the exchange rates you want to use. These will be set at implementation and cannot be updated dynamically.
Step 4: Coordinate internal resources
Assign a main point of contact and technical collaborator from your team. They will help finalize specifications, perform testing, and provide sign-off.
Implementation process
Step 5: Finalize specifications
Work with your Bonterra Implementation team to document your business rules. This includes defining logic for match limits, eligible gift types, and ratio calculations.
Step 6: Configure and develop
Bonterra configures the extension based on your specifications. Custom code is not used; the extension is implemented from the prebuilt template.
Step 7: Participate in User Acceptance Testing (UAT)
You will be required to test the functionality in a staging environment. Testing confirms that the logic meets your expectations and behaves as defined.
Step 8: Approve and deploy
After successful UAT and formal approval, Bonterra deploys the extension to your production environment.
Post-implementation management
Step 9: Monitor activity
Regularly review match results to ensure the extension is operating as expected. Use your reporting tools to monitor trends in match usage.
Step 10: Manage change requests
Remember that only one change per year is allowed, and it must be within the original scope. Coordinate with your Bonterra team if you need updates.
Step 11: Educate employees
Consider updating your program documentation to explain how matching works under the extension. This helps reduce confusion and improves transparency.
