Insights users can utilize the Series menu to customize the appearance and functionality of their Line Visualizations. The Series menu allows users to control various aspects of the chart, such as color palette, field name display, and point style.
By following the steps below, users can tailor the line chart to their specific needs and preferences, enhancing the overall effectiveness of their data analysis and reporting.
Step 1: Access Insights and choose an Explore
Log in to the CyberGrants platform and navigate to the Insights tab.
In the left-hand menu, select the "Analyze" option to view and choose from the available Explores.
Step 2: Build or select a report
Create a new report by either building it from scratch by adding relevant fields or if any prebuilt Quick Start reports are available, select one of those as a starting point.
Step 3: Access the Line Visualization type
The Line icon in the Visualization toolbar will allow you to view the report as a line chart.
Step 4: View the Series Menu
Click Edit in the right corner of the Visualization toolbar to access the Line Visualization Series Menu options.
Step 5: Define the Color Palette
To define the color palette for a chart, you can select from a collection of predefined palettes or create a custom color palette.
- Collection - To choose a predefined color scheme, select it from the list of available Collections.
- Palette - To choose a predefined palette, click on the Palette option and select from the Palettes listed.
- Custom palette - To create a custom palette, click on the Palette option and select the Custom tab to adjust the Colors on the Palette including editing the hex color.
- Reverse colors - Toggle the color scheme of the line chart series by reversing the selected colors.
Step 6: Display the Full Field Name
The Show Full Field Name option determines whether the view name should be displayed along with the field name for each axis title and series name.
Step 7: Add a Point Style
The Point Style option determines how the individual data points are represented in a Line Visualization. The following options are available:
- Outline (hollow markers).
Step 8: Customize the chart
Through the Series menu, the chart can be customized by adjusting the color, label, and chart type.
- Color - For color customization, click on the corresponding colored box and choose the desired color or create a custom palette.
- Label - To customize the label, click the arrow to expand your options and enter text in the Label field.
- Type - To modify the chart type between options such as Area, Column, Line, and Scatter, click the arrow to expand your view of the available selections, then choose the desired chart format.
