The Insights tab provides a powerful Table Visualization that allows you to sort data across multiple columns. Proceed as follows to effectively sort your data and leverage the Insights platform's advanced sorting techniques.
Step 1: Access the Insights tab
Log in to the CyberGrants platform and navigate to the Insights tab.
Step 2: Choose an Explore
In the left-hand menu, select the "Analyze" option to view and choose from the available Explores.
Step 3: Build or select a report
Create a new report by either building it from scratch by adding relevant fields or if any prebuilt Quick Start reports are available, select one of those as a starting point.
Step 4: Access the Table Visualization type
The Table icon in the Visualization toolbar will allow you to view the report as a table listing the data in individual columns.
Step 5: Understand the default sorting prioritization
By default, data is sorted according to the following prioritization:
- The first date dimension, descending
- If no date dimension exists, the first measure, descending
- If no measure exists, the first added dimension, ascending
Step 6: Sort columns in Ascending and Descending order
You can sort columns in the table through the column headers within the visualization. Hover over the column heading to access the chevron icon. Then, switch between ascending and descending sort order. The chevron points up to indicate an ascending sort and down to indicate a descending sort.
Step 7: Sort by multiple columns
You can sort by clicking on the column headers in the order you would like them sorted.
Step 8: Sorting with subtotals
If subtotals are enabled, the leftmost subtotal is always sorted. Sorting occurs within each subtotal category independently.
