Insights Custom Fields Overview
Insights Analysts have access to a powerful custom fields feature that allows them to create their own temporary ad hoc custom dimensions and measures within any Insights Explore.
Most fields accessible through the left field picker of any given Explore have been identified by an Insights developer and exist as standard to the product (meaning they cannot be edited). The custom field feature provides you with the flexibility to tailor your program's data analysis without relying on an Insights developer.
- With custom fields, you can create a wide variety of custom field types, including custom measures based on existing dimensions, custom groups to create ad hoc categories, custom bins to group numeric values into tiers, and custom dimensions derived from expressions that combine multiple existing fields.
- Custom fields can be leveraged in the same manner as standard fields, enabling users to add them to data tables, utilize them as filtering criteria, and seamlessly incorporate them into visualizations.
It is important to note that any custom fields created are temporary, so be sure to save your analysis to a Look, Report, or Dashboard if you want to access them again in the future.
